Without mobile recycling the world would very quickly be in a terrible mess. Demand for mobile phones far exceeded initial expectations meaning that a lot more mobile phones went to landfill than was anticipated. At first this was not a problem, but now that around 5% of landfill is made up of electrical waste, including mobile phones, the levels of heavy metals in mobile phones present a real risk to the environment.

Without mobile recycling the level of contamination from the heavy metals contained in mobile phones would soon reach intolerable levels.

How Mobile Recycling Benefits You

When you recycle your mobile phone you do far more than just help the environment. In some cases you help people in developing countries to be able to afford a mobile phone. This allows them to find jobs further afield and to get important information to help them to run their companies and be successful.

Mobile recycling also gives you the chance to make money from your old mobiles. Even very old phones that have been sitting in the drawer for ages could potentially make you money. Broken phones or phones without chargers can also be sold for recycling.
